According to reports, The Venue abruptly cancels the event after complaints and criticism from Florida Democratic State Rep. Michael Gottlieb, chairman of the Florida Legislative Jewish Caucus. Gottlieb publicly characterizes the rally as “anti-Jew,” framing the dispute around Tlaib’s record of criticizing Israel’s government and policies.
Tlaib, who is the first Palestinian American member of Congress, says her positions are not antisemitic. She condemns antisemitism and argues that criticism of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and its actions in Gaza and Lebanon is not antisemitism. The Venue cites “increased security concerns” for the cancellation and says it is Jewish-owned and emphasizes its commitment to the Jewish community.
