IRCTC is stepping up efforts to increase production of Rail Neer, its packaged drinking water sold on trains, as demand continues to outstrip supply. According to reports, the company is working to ramp up capacity at existing plants while also evaluating additional production sites.
NDTV reports that Rail Neer’s “fix” remains incomplete, with some capacity expansion projects described as still half-built. At the same time, IRCTC is looking ahead to four new sites to further boost output. The coverage also notes that a beverage-brand partnership that could help scale operations has not yet materialized, leaving IRCTC relying on its own expansion plans.
Taken together, the outlets describe a situation where supply constraints persist in the near term, even as IRCTC pursues both incremental increases at current facilities and longer-term expansion through new locations. The differing emphasis is that NDTV focuses on the continuing shortage alongside the stalled nature of parts of the program and the absence of a partner.
