LG Electronics begins operating a new home appliance manufacturing plant in Paraná, Brazil, expanding its local production footprint in South America. The company says the facility is its second production hub in the country and started operations last week. The new plant focuses on building refrigerators, aiming to deepen its reach in the regional appliance market.

LG Electronics says the Paraná facility has an annual capacity of about 600,000 refrigerators. Combined with its existing manufacturing site in Amazonas, the company projects total local appliance production capacity to exceed 7 million units per year. LG adds that the plant supports regional supply chain resilience and is also intended to serve as an export hub for neighboring countries. The company also characterizes its strategy as producing premium and more locally adapted appliances to improve cost competitiveness as local demand grows, including demand supported by broader government programs in Brazil.

The PR Newswire release emphasizes the new “smart factory” and manufacturing expansion as a supply-chain resilience measure, while the Korea Times report details the operational start date, capacity figures, and product and market focus.
