Singapore’s competition watchdog, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCS), warns that bike-sharing operator HelloRide sought to discuss pricing with its rival Anywheel. CCS says it received complaints from Anywheel about HelloRide’s approach and subsequently assessed whether the conduct could breach Singapore’s Competition Act.

CCS states that after considering the matter, it finds there is no breach of the Competition Act. It says Anywheel refused to engage in the proposed price discussions and that Anywheel reported HelloRide’s attempts to CCS. The watchdog’s warning is therefore tied to the behaviour that prompted the complaint and review, rather than a confirmed violation.

The two outlets describe the same CCS action: an investigation prompted by competitor complaints, followed by CCS’s determination that the Competition Act has not been breached in this instance.
