The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has recovered US$60 million linked to Nestoil Limited and related transactions involving creditor lenders. The recovery is presented as part of the EFCC’s ongoing investigation into alleged criminal aspects of dealings between Nestoil and a consortium of lenders.

According to the reports, the EFCC convenes a meeting between Nestoil and the lenders to agree on a structured debt repayment arrangement. Following the process, US$60 million is said to have been paid by Nestoil and transferred to the creditor banks/consortium during the investigation. Both outlets describe the payment as an early milestone rather than full settlement of the outstanding indebtedness.

The sources differ mainly in emphasis. Premium Times focuses on the recovery amount and that it is part of the continuing debt investigation, while Nigerian Eye adds more detail on the facilitation role of the EFCC chairman and notes that the lenders view the $60 million as the first phase of repayments. Both describe cooperation between parties and a continued effort to reach full recovery.
