Jigawa State Governor’s New Media aide, Comrade Muhammad Garba, criticises the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after its performance in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election. In a Facebook post on Sunday, Garba says the party’s influence is limited to only a few local government areas in northern Nigeria, and he points to what he describes as ADC’s weak showing in Osun.
Garba argues that despite the party’s “propaganda and outbursts,” ADC obtains 17,180 votes in the election. He also frames the broader outcome as evidence of democratic resilience, crediting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for allowing the poll to proceed without interference. In the election, Accord Party Governor Ademola Adeleke is re-elected for a second term, winning 19 of Osun’s 30 local government areas, while APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji wins 11 LGAs.
Across the reports, the central focus remains Garba’s attack on ADC, his vote figure for the party, and his comments about Nigeria’s ability to sustain elections without direct ruling-party control. The outlets largely differ only in wording and emphasis rather than the underlying claims.
