Google is introducing a new modem in its Pixel 11 series, paired with the updated Tensor G6 chipset. Google states the modem is “all-new” and is designed to be more reliable and faster, while improving power efficiency. In accompanying footnotes, the company qualifies these assertions by saying they are based on average results from internal testing using pre-production devices under lab-controlled conditions.

A report by 9to5Google says the modem is made by MediaTek, indicating a change from previous Pixel generations that reportedly relied on Samsung-built modems. Both sources frame the modem update as a potential performance and efficiency improvement, but also emphasize that the published benefits are tied to controlled testing rather than broad real-world measurements.

While the outlets agree on the existence of a new modem and the emphasis on faster, more efficient operation, they differ slightly in how they contextualize it: NDTV focuses on the implications of switching away from Samsung, while 9to5Google concentrates more directly on Google’s stated performance claims for the MediaTek component.
