Apple releases macOS 27 developer beta 6, adding two new Golden Gate-themed dynamic wallpaper options and updating the appearance of the traffic light window controls. The update follows beta 5 by about a week and is described as a relatively small visual-focused change.
The new wallpapers feature the Golden Gate Bridge in daytime (“Golden Gate Day”) and evening (“Golden Gate Evening”). Sources describe them as animated visuals that play when users unlock their Mac, and they can also be used as screen savers. When enabled as a screen saver, the wallpapers show cars slowly driving across the bridge. Earlier betas are said to have introduced additional Golden Gate scenes such as “Golden Gate Sunset” and “Golden Gate Night,” alongside some abstract variants.
In addition to wallpaper updates, beta 6 tweaks the traffic light buttons’ look, adding a “Liquid Glass” aesthetic. AppleInsider and MacRumors both frame the changes as incremental, with macOS Golden Gate available to developers and public beta testers, and a public launch expected in September.
