The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign in Osun State says it will not quickly congratulate incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares him the winner of the 15 August election. APC campaign Director-General Oluwole Oke says the party is still reviewing the election results and process before deciding its next steps.
Oke says the campaign is not acting under pressure despite President Bola Tinubu having already congratulated Adeleke following INEC’s declaration. He argues that the APC does not agree with the outcome as announced, stating that in the party’s view Adeleke did not score the highest valid votes. Other outlets report Oke frames the position as an ongoing assessment rather than a refusal to ever engage, with APC preparing to articulate its position after the review.
INEC declared Adeleke of the Accord Party winner with 511,067 votes, while the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes.
