IMD alerts for Delhi include orange and, in some coverage, red-level warnings, alongside similar alerts in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and other northern states.
Local reporting notes that Delhi has recorded peaks in the mid-40s Celsius range, with some areas in the wider region reaching near or above 47°C. One outlet cites Delhi’s Tuesday temperature at 45.1°C, about 4.7°C higher than normal, while another places forecasts for Delhi around 46°C in the coming days. The IMD’s guidance across sources emphasizes precaution for vulnerable groups, hydration, and protective measures against heat.
While pre-monsoon conditions are expected to bring intermittent thunderstorms and rain in parts of India, sources say relief is limited for the Delhi region. Forecasts indicate maximum temperatures in northwest India may rise further over the week, and heatwave conditions are expected to persist in Delhi into the latter part of May.
