India’s Defence Ministry notifies a sixth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) covering 405 strategically significant defence items, and defence-sector stocks rise sharply in response. Multiple listed companies gain as investors react to the prospect of increased domestic procurement and development opportunities.

The Department of Defence Production (DDP) estimates the new list could create business opportunities worth about ₹3,070 crore. The items span line replaceable units, sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, components and raw materials. Of the 405 items, 16 are earmarked for the Indian Coast Guard and 389 for Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs). Reported examples include parts related to helicopters and aircraft such as the Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Su-30MKI and Light Combat Aircraft, as well as engines such as the AL-31FP. Coverage also includes components for armoured platforms (T-72, T-90, BMP-II) and equipment associated with missile and warship systems.

Outlets also note the list’s link to deadlines and a move toward procurement from Indian suppliers once indigenisation is achieved. The Economic Times highlights market impact and references the wider indigenisation track record and procurement orders, while Free Press Journal focuses on the stock gains and programme mechanics, including implementation through DPSUs and the Coast Guard under the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat push for self-reliant defence manufacturing.
