Chief Sir Joseph Ebere Ezeokafor, chairman of Jezco Group of Companies, returns to his hometown of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, after regaining his freedom following nearly two weeks in captivity. He is welcomed and celebrated by kinsmen on Monday as community members express relief and gratitude.

Multiple outlets report that Ezeokafor was abducted in the early hours of Tuesday while reportedly travelling to a prayer ground in Awka. Nigerian Eye adds that he was taken along with a Reverend Sister at Ifite-Awka, and that both are released. The Anambra State Police Command confirms the release and says investigations are ongoing into the circumstances of their freedom and the identity of those responsible. Daily Post Nigeria similarly frames the homecoming as a cause for rejoicing in Ekwulobia, noting warm receptions by local residents and the end of the period of captivity, while emphasizing the emotional impact on the community.
