India imposes a minimum import price on clear float glass in a move that affects imports in the 4 mm to 12 mm thickness range. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issues a notification setting the measure, which remains in force for one year from the date of publication.
The policy change also updates the import regime for the product from “Free” to “Restricted.” The measure applies under specific ITC (HS) codes: 70051090 and 70052990. The outlets note that the decision is expected to benefit domestic or market-positioned firms, including Saint-Gobain and Asahi India, though the articles frame this as an outcome of the import restriction rather than an announced intent.
