Gordon Brothers, the owner of Poundland, is exploring the option of selling the discount retailer about a year after it bought the business.
According to reports, Gordon Brothers also owns other retail brands, including Laura Ashley and LK Bennett. The purchase followed changes to the company’s operations, with around 200 Poundland shops reportedly closed since the acquisition. Poundland currently operates roughly 600 stores and employs about 12,000 people.
The coverage focuses on the timing and the scale of the retailer’s operational changes after the purchase. While outlets provide the same basic figures on store closures, current store count, and employment levels, they frame the news differently by emphasizing the sale possibility and the speed of the turnaround since the acquisition.
