Crypto exchange Kraken launches a new debit card, the Krak Card, designed to help it reach mainstream consumer spending. The card offers cashback rewards and allows users to spend using cryptocurrency-linked balances.
According to reporting, the card provides rewards of up to 2% in either cash or Bitcoin, depending on the user’s choice. Kraken positions the product as part of a broader push to convert crypto from a standalone investment into infrastructure that can be used in everyday financial activities. Quartz adds that the card supports spending from more than 600 currencies and crypto assets.
While both outlets describe the same overall initiative—Kraken’s move into consumer “wallet” products—coverage differs in emphasis. CNBC frames the launch as a bid for consumer wallets as crypto becomes embedded in mainstream financial services, while Quartz focuses on the card’s reward terms and the breadth of supported currencies and crypto holdings.
