The PM CARES Fund’s latest audited receipts and payments accounts show the fund’s corpus rises to ₹8,452.07 crore as of March 31, 2025, while spending in FY 2024-25 is reported at ₹87.85 lakh. Around 93% of the corpus is held in fixed deposits, and only a small portion is kept in savings accounts.

The accounts published on the fund’s website (including for FY 2023-24 and 2024-25) indicate that nearly all FY 2024-25 expenditure goes to the PM CARES for Children scheme. The fund reports interest earnings of roughly ₹469–475 crore from fixed deposits during the year, alongside interest from savings accounts and refunds from implementing agencies. Donations are also reported to have declined in FY 2024-25 compared with the prior year.

Across outlets, the main differing emphasis is on interpretation: some focus on the low utilisation rate and the gap between the fund’s growing corpus and child-scheme disbursals, while others note the role of fixed deposits in generating income and the contribution streams that increase the balance. Both outlets also cite continuing public debate about transparency, including delayed publication of accounts and the fund’s limited disclosure beyond receipts and payments.
