A purported Zepto internship advertisement shared online is sparking a gender-bias row after it reportedly asked for only male students able to lift up to 20 kg and stand for long shifts. The claim is being debated widely on social media, with users questioning whether the requirements are appropriate for an internship pitched to students from computer and business-related courses.
According to posts circulating on X, the alleged notice was shared after Zepto visited a campus to offer internships to CSE students. The viral image reportedly says the opportunity is open to “all male students,” mentions eligibility such as B.Tech, BBA, BCA and B.Com (Hons), and references a stipend of Rs 20,000 per month for a three-month internship. It also reportedly includes requirements to lift up to 20 kg and to remain on their feet for 10–12-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment.
Both outlets describe the uproar as focused on two issues: an alleged gender restriction and the extent of the physical demands. Times of India also frames the broader question as where job requirements cross into unfair or non-transparent hiring. Free Press Journal notes it could not verify the authenticity of the viral post and says Zepto has not confirmed the listing.
