Canada’s national AI strategy, “AI for All,” is drawing attention to the role educators will play in preparing students for generative AI and related changes. Reporting and analysis focus on the need for teachers who feel ready to use and respond to AI tools, particularly around assessment, rather than simply receiving technical training.
One initiative described through a survey and workshop project is designed to help educators reflect on their comfort with generative AI and on how it affects teaching and grading. It also aims to surface educators’ concerns, challenges, and perceived gaps in readiness. The strategy itself is framed around two broad priorities—building trust and creating opportunity—while the educator-focused work highlights the practical support and confidence-building that may be required for implementation.
Across the sources, the emphasis is consistent: Canada’s AI strategy is not only about deploying AI capabilities, but also about preparing the people who will guide learning as AI becomes more common in education, with attention to both readiness and trust.
