The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has selected “The Table: Day and Night,” directed by Kim Jong-kwan, as the opening film for the 31st edition. Organizers say the film will have its world premiere at the festival.
The story centers on four couples whose conversations unfold in a single cafe, spanning different stages of love. Korea Times describes the film as focusing on “lively yet tender” dialogue, while Variety adds that the plot moves through a summer and autumn timeframe. Both outlets identify the project as a continuation of Kim’s filmmaking themes, and note his prior work and involvement in earlier projects.
BIFF is scheduled to run from Oct. 6–15 in Busan, South Korea. Korea Times also lists several cast members, while Variety emphasizes the film’s relationship to the festival’s 2026 opening slot and world-premiere status.
