KKR has signed definitive agreements to acquire a minority stake in Indian ticketing and live entertainment platform BookMyShow. The companies did not disclose the financial terms. In a joint statement, KKR says the investment supports BookMyShow’s growth as it scales its live entertainment business and develops a broader, “full-stack” entertainment offering across India.

BookMyShow, operated by Bigtree Entertainment, is described as having evolved from an online movie ticketing platform into an end-to-end events management company covering concerts, live performances, theatricals and sports. It currently operates across more than 700 towns and cities in India. Both outlets note that existing investors include Network18, Accel, Elevation Capital, Stripes Group and TPG Growth, and that Network18 (via a Reliance-linked entity) holds a 39% stake as the largest shareholder.

While the core deal details are consistent, the outlets differ on background emphasis. The Economic Times adds context that KKR had previously planned a similar investment (reported in January 2024) but talks stalled, whereas the Free Press Journal focuses more on KKR’s broader India portfolio and the strategic rationale around India’s out-of-home entertainment sector.
