The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shifts the Duleep Trophy final from Bengaluru to Chennai, hosting the match at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Multiple outlets report that the move is aimed at enabling spectators to attend the final, with BCCI working through logistical and venue considerations.
According to the reports, the tournament starts on August 23. Early rounds—initial matches and the quarterfinals and semifinals—are scheduled to be played at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence with no audience. Karnataka Cricket Association is said to have agreed to the arrangement but would face limits on the number of spectators.
Outlets also note that Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is consulted regarding the final in Chennai. One report says the final is expected to be relocated to facilitate fan access, while another adds that viewers will be able to follow matches through streaming, reflecting changes in how the tournament is broadcast and watched this season.
