LG Display and Samsung Display showcase next-generation OLED technology at IMID 2026 in Busan, taking place at BEXCO over several days. LG Display presents its FLiPP (FMM-Less innovative Pixel Patterning), a manufacturing approach aimed at RGB OLED pixel patterning without using conventional fine metal masks (FMMs). The event runs from Thursday through Friday, according to the coverage.

LG’s FLiPP is described as having been developed through about a year of research and development. The company says it patterns red, green and blue OLED pixels using proprietary methods rather than metal masks. LG claims that, compared with FMM-based panels produced under the same conditions, FLiPP increases brightness by 1.6 times, extends panel lifespan by 2.4 times, and reduces power consumption by 13 percent. LG links these gains to a roughly 55% increase in the aperture ratio, defined as the portion of the display area occupied by RGB pixels.

Samsung Display also displays its latest OLED technologies at the same conference. While both outlets focus on the IMID showcase and LG’s FLiPP concept, TechGenyz primarily reiterates LG’s announcement and intended purpose, while Korea Times includes specific performance metrics and the manufacturing rationale behind the claimed improvements.
