An Ola cab driver in Nerul is reported to be assaulted and dragged on the car’s bonnet by another driver during a road rage incident. Reports say the injured driver received serious head injuries after being hit with a bamboo stick, and he lay on the bonnet to prevent the attacker from escaping as the car sped away.
According to accounts cited by outlets, the dispute follows an altercation between an Ola driver and a Swift car driver after an alleged cut-off during overtaking on an internal road. The incident is reported to occur on August 15 at around 9:35 pm near Nerul pond on a stretch by Sarsole village road in Sector 20. Sources say the accused continued driving for about two kilometres despite the injured driver’s requests, and he later jumped off when the vehicle slowed. The accused then allegedly fled the spot.
Police register an FIR and are searching for the absconding driver. Authorities invoke relevant sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to causing hurt using dangerous weapons and rash or negligent driving that endangers life or personal safety.
