A £32 million, 850-space car park in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, remains unused as its opening is delayed again, despite the car park being completed in 2024. The facility has been empty for about two years.

Across reporting, the main reason cited is that the access road linking the car park to surrounding routes is not finished. The council has faced challenges in securing funds to deliver the required road works. Because vehicles cannot reach the site via the planned link, the car park cannot begin operations even though it has been constructed.

One outlet characterises the project as a “car park to nowhere,” highlighting the length of time it has stood idle. The underlying details remain consistent: the structure is complete, but the necessary road connection is still outstanding, resulting in further delays to an opening date and continued disruption to intended transport and parking plans for the area.
