Guerrilla Games is reportedly rebooting its long-in-development Horizon multiplayer spin-off, Horizon Hunters Gathering, after player feedback from testing raised concerns. Bloomberg and other outlets report the changes began in June, with the studio working to revise the project’s direction and keep it alive under executive review.

Multiple sources say the reboot removes live-service elements and scales the game back. The plan is to shift it toward a more traditional cooperative multiplayer format, including a story mode and a smaller overall scope. In parallel, some team members are said to be reassigned to other internal projects, which are expected to be evaluated later this year.

While outlets agree on the general rework, they frame the broader context slightly differently. Some emphasize PlayStation’s narrowing live-service strategy, pointing to recent cancellations and mixed results, such as Helldivers 2’s success and Concord’s failure. Others focus more specifically on what happens to the “proper” Horizon single-player sequel, with sources describing it as still years away, and only a small Guerrilla team working on it.
