West Bengal’s CID is revisiting cases related to post-poll violence reported after the 2021 elections. The department says it has reopened 59 cases in response to complaints received about incidents of violence during that period. Alongside the reopenings, the CID reports registering 181 fresh FIRs, describing the steps as part of legal action under established procedure.
In addition to the FIRs, one source reports that the CID is conducting 458 inquiries linked to these post-poll incidents, indicating a broader review beyond the reopened cases. A senior CID officer says the action is being taken following the complaints and the process required under law.
