Planned London Underground strike action by members of the RMT union over working-week changes is due to affect routes and timings on 19–22 May 2026, but those strikes are subsequently cancelled. One planned stoppage was scheduled from midday Tuesday 19 May to midday Wednesday 20 May, with a second from midday Thursday 21 May to midday Friday 22 May. The earlier schedule was published with TfL guidance that disruption could continue beyond the strike windows into afternoons and evenings, and that some lines would see no service while others would run but with reduced service.
Separately, a later report states the two May strikes have been called off at the “11th hour,” with RMT saying TfL has shifted its position and that the dispute is not resolved. RMT also indicates further strike action may follow if negotiations do not make sufficient progress. Longer-term planned dates in June were also cancelled, with new possible dates set if the union remains dissatisfied.
The dispute centers on TfL’s trial of an optional “compressed” four-day working week, which TfL says is voluntary and aims to improve reliability and flexibility. RMT and other unions raise concerns about fatigue, safety, and notice of shift rosters.
