Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign England midfielder Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich, with the move dependent on her passing a medical, according to reports. Stanway, 27, is expected to join Arsenal in early July, when her contract with Bayern expires. The transfer is expected to be on a free transfer because it comes at the end of her existing deal.
Both outlets note that Stanway confirmed in January that she would be leaving Bayern at the conclusion of her contract. Bayern, in turn, had previously stated that she would depart at the end of her term. During her time in Munich, Stanway has played a key role in the club’s success, with Bayern winning multiple Bundesliga titles over her four-year spell.
While the agreement is described as reached, the final step before the move is completed is Stanway’s medical assessment with Arsenal, after which she is set to start her next contract period with the London club in July.
