Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s student-focused event “Chhatron Ki Goonj” in Pune on August 22 is allowed under police permission, despite the city having prohibitory orders until August 31. Multiple outlets report the Pune City Police grant the event a conditional nod with 30 restrictions covering security, crowd management, and compliance with public-order and noise rules.

The conditions include bans on objectionable images, banners, or portraits, limits on attendance to the venue capacity, separate entry/exit arrangements, and segregation of seating for men and women. Organisers are required to provide security and facilities including frisking arrangements with female security staff, adequate toilets and drinking water, CCTV coverage, and fire-safety and traffic/fire NOCs. Drone photography is also prohibited, and organisers must avoid disturbing residents, schools, hospitals, and the railway area.

Rahul Gandhi and some coverage frame the event as a platform for young women to raise concerns about education and safety. The Free Press Journal also reports Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticises the event as potentially “one-sided,” alleging it targets handpicked invitees from Congress-affiliated institutions. Across sources, the event runs 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM at SSPMS College ground and expects about 8,000–10,000 attendees.
