The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa State arrests three suspects over an alleged attempt to transport vandalised pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, DSC Amidu Nyako Baba, says the suspects are intercepted and detained for further investigation.
According to the reports, the interception happens at Jereng in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area after credible intelligence reported suspicious movement of materials. The men are found conveying 250 metal pipes, each about 8 to 10 feet long. The pipes are concealed in bags of cassava, and the preliminary account says the consignment is loaded in Namnai, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State and is being moved toward Kano.
While the outlets agree on the arrests, the number of pipes, and the concealment method, they differ mainly in detail and wording. One report notes the operation is linked to alleged vandalism of NNPCL/NNPC infrastructure, while another emphasizes the investigation and potential prosecution; both describe ongoing efforts to locate an additional suspect who is not in custody.
