Larsen & Toubro (L&T) wins a “large order” to build an Automated People Mover system for Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport as part of the airport’s long-term expansion, according to multiple reports.

L&T is identified as part of a consortium with Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). The Free Press Journal reports that the project covers Phase 1 of the expansion, with development by Dubai Aviation City Corporation and implementation through Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects. Both outlets describe the deal as an integrated system delivered as part of broader capacity growth plans for the airport.

Across coverage, the main differences are on details. The Free Press Journal says L&T classifies the contract as “large” (between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore) but notes the exact value is not disclosed. It also outlines a turnkey scope including design, construction, equipment supply, testing, commissioning, and readiness for operations, with L&T handling elements such as guideways and traction power and communications, while MHI contributes Automated People Mover experience.
