X is reportedly considering using stablecoins to pay influencers and other content creators. NDTV and CoinDesk both say the platform’s discussions involve stablecoin payment rails, with Circle’s USDC mentioned as a possible option.
The reporting links the idea to broader adoption of stablecoins for payments, citing their potential for faster and cheaper cross-border transfers compared with traditional payment methods. NDTV adds that X has recently shifted creator-related payouts, replacing its earlier Revenue Sharing model with an Original Content Rewards Program. It also notes that SpaceX already uses stablecoins for payments from some Starlink customers, suggesting familiarity with the approach within Elon Musk’s companies.
CoinDesk frames the situation as early and ongoing, describing conversations with X and indicating that other social media platforms are also testing stablecoin-based influencer payments. Both outlets, however, do not provide details on timing, approval, or whether X will ultimately implement the change.
