The Nigerian Federal Government orders a forensic investigation into government processes and systems after the ICPC finds additional fake agencies. Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Taiwo Oyedele says President Bola Tinubu briefs the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the ICPC’s interim findings related to a fraudulent entity known as the “Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council” (PFIPC).
According to Oyedele, the probe is expanded to include the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), alongside other government systems. The investigation aims to determine how the fake agencies obtained official codes, identify weaknesses that allowed the fraud, and assess what controls need strengthening to prevent repeat infiltration.
The two outlets align on the core development: ICPC interim findings lead to an FEC-directed forensic review, and the scope is broadened to payroll-related systems. They differ mainly in emphasis, with one describing the order as a response to the “fake agency” scandal and the other focusing specifically on the extension of the PFIPC-linked probe to IPPIS. Both present the government’s stated goal as improving accountability and closing operational loopholes.
