A SEBI study says 88.5% of traders aged under 30 who participate in futures and options (F&O) incur losses. The report attributes most losses to the low-income segment of traders, highlighting that loss outcomes are widespread among younger participants.
According to the study, traders under 30 make up about 43% of the trader base in FY26. It also states that 73% of traders in this group have annual incomes below ₹5 lakh. The outlet frames the findings as evidence of a high loss incidence in F&O trading, while the underlying data points emphasize the role of age distribution and income levels in shaping trader outcomes.
