Microfinance institution Arohan Financial Services has filed preliminary IPO papers with India’s market regulator, Sebi, to raise funds through a maiden public offering. The draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) indicates the IPO will include a fresh issue of shares worth about ₹600 crore. In addition to the fresh issue, existing investors plan to sell shares through an offer for sale (OFS) of 4.04 crore shares, according to the filing.

The DRHP states that proceeds from the fresh issue will be used to strengthen the company’s capital base and for general corporate purposes. Several existing investors are expected to offload shares, including US Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Aavishkaar Goodwell India Microfinance Development Company-II Ltd, Tano Capital, TR Capital III Mauritius, and the Danish Sustainable Development Goals Investment Fund.

Earlier disclosures by the company’s managing director indicated an intention to raise up to ₹1,500 crore through the IPO. Arohan Financial Services is a technology-enabled NBFC-microfinance institution providing income-generating loans and related products, with operations across rural and semi-urban areas.
