Multiple outlets report that the banner includes calls for mass deportation, with one version referencing “100+ million,” and it also promotes or links to a white nationalist website described as “White Replacement” or “White Replacement.Org.” The Nationals state they have identified the individual involved and issued a ban from the ballpark.
Several reports also describe the banner being unveiled in the Upper Deck during the game, with video footage circulating from the stadium. One outlet adds that the people involved fled the area after the incident, while others focus on the team’s response and the fact that the person is no longer permitted at Nationals games.
The Nationals also say they are coordinating with District of Columbia police as part of an investigation related to the banner display, according to one report. The team publicly condemns the rhetoric connected to the banner and treats the incident as conduct it will not tolerate at its venue.
