A man identified by German prosecutors as a suspect in the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline explosions is arrested in Croatia while reportedly working on a film set. The suspect, Volodymyr Zhuravlev, is said to be a consultant for the Hollywood production “Snake Island,” a dramatized reconstruction of the incident.
According to reporting from Zagreb and Kyiv, the film is directed by Doug Liman and stars Sean Penn and Adrien Brody. The accounts describe local filming activity in Croatia, including the presence of film crews and extras wearing Ukrainian military uniforms. German prosecutors allege that Zhuravlev helped a group that planted explosives on the pipelines, with the incident occurring near Denmark.
The outlets also note that Zhuravlev has previously been linked to failed efforts by German authorities to detain him. One report says he was allegedly able to evade German scrutiny in earlier circumstances involving travel and a court order. The overall coverage centers on the arrest’s timing during a film production rather than on any new evidence about the sabotage itself.
