Police identify the person accused of terrorizing women in Philadelphia while wearing a Chucky-style Halloween mask as Zymire Hughes, 22. The Philadelphia Police Department says the suspect—sought in assaults reported near 15th Street and JFK on Aug. 12—has been identified, though he remains on the run.

According to reports, investigators say the masked suspect approaches victims and issues threatening statements. The New York Post describes an alleged exchange with a jogger, in which the suspect asks, “are you ready to die?” Fox News adds that surveillance video reportedly shows Hughes wearing the mask and chasing women, and it includes an incident in which a combat-trained woman fights back.

Both outlets frame the case as a series of attacks connected by similar tactics and the distinctive face covering. While they differ in which specific confrontation details they emphasize—such as the alleged jogger remark versus the surveillance and a woman’s response—they both attribute the identification to police and describe the suspect as still at large.
