FTSE Russell declares India’s BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) an eligible exchange for inclusion in its equity indices. The change expands the set of companies that could be tracked or invested in through FTSE Russell-linked products.

According to the outlets, FTSE Russell will assess stocks listed on BSE’s main board starting March 2027. Companies that newly list on BSE’s main board will also be subject to a fast-track screening process. For companies listed on both BSE and NSE, the NSE-listed securities are selected for eligibility. One source also notes that NSE-listed stocks are already eligible for FTSE Russell indices, placing this update within an existing framework of exchange eligibility.

While the Business Line highlights the potential to broaden the investor base for BSE-listed firms as global index-linked investment grows in importance in India, the Economic Times focuses more on the timing and mechanics of eligibility, including the start date, screening approach, and the treatment of dual-listed stocks. Both reports reflect FTSE Russell’s decision to extend eligibility to BSE main-board stocks under defined rules.
