Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal says the dates of the home India–Bangladesh series could change as the board reworks its calendar. He adds that the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) may not be held this year, citing significant financial losses and unresolved issues related to franchises and payments.

Tamim says the BCB is planning a “Game Development” tournament at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from August 28 to September 9 for Under-17, Under-19 and Under-23 players, with the venue potentially shifting to the Bashundhara ground if needed. He notes India already has a three-match T20 International series scheduled in New Delhi against Afghanistan from September 13 to 17, which limits the overlap for a Bangladesh home series.

On the BPL, Tamim says losses over the past two seasons total about 40 crore Bangladeshi taka (around INR 31 crore). He links the possible shelving of the league to controversies and says the BCB is in communication with franchises, including default-related disputes, missed payments and bank guarantees. He suggests it could take up to two years to stabilize the situation and expects franchises may be ready by April–May next year.
