Samsung SDI says it will sell a portion of its holdings in Samsung Display to raise about $3.2 billion. In a regulatory filing, the company says it will transfer 13.088 million Samsung Display shares back to the display maker.

The shares are valued at about 4.45 trillion won. The transaction is set to reduce Samsung SDI’s stake in Samsung Display to 10.2% from 15.2%. Samsung SDI does not specify how the proceeds will be used, though reporting points to funding for future growth and facility investments, including its battery plant under construction in New Carlisle, Indiana.

Across outlets, the key focus is the same: the sale is conducted as an internal transfer to Samsung Display and is large enough to change Samsung SDI’s ownership level meaningfully. Where they differ is mainly in emphasis—some frame it as part of ongoing investment plans, while others highlight the regulatory details and the stake reduction figures.
