The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State criticizes Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after Senator Saliu Mustapha resigns as the party’s representative for Kwara Central. PDP spokesperson Olusegun Adewara says Mustapha’s departure, announced in a letter dated August 14, points to worsening internal problems within the Kwara APC.
Adewara links the resignation to what he describes as leadership failure and deepening divisions in the party, and he also references the prior resignation of Ambassador Kolo Jiya and other APC leaders in Kwara North as additional evidence of eroding confidence in AbdulRazaq’s leadership. The PDP urges remaining APC members to defect. Mustapha, for his part, says the decision follows weeks of consultation with stakeholders and constituents, and he emphasizes that while his political platform may change, his principles and commitment to serving Kwara Central remain unchanged.
The outlets also note that the APC has not issued an official response to Mustapha’s resignation, and attempts to get comments from AbdulRazaq were not successful at the time of reporting.
