Police in Kaduna State say they rescue 75 kidnapped travellers, including men, women and children, after armed abductors seize them near Folwaya Village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area. The victims, described as Fulani travellers, were reportedly travelling in commercial buses when they were intercepted and taken into the forest.

Multiple outlets cite police spokesman Mansir Hassan, saying the command acts on credible information that leads to locating the captives in a cave near Folwaya Village. Vanguard and Daily Post report that the abductors flee when police arrive, leaving the captives behind; Nigerian Eye likewise says the abductors escape after encountering well-armed police operatives.

The outlets also add context about how insecurity in Birnin Gwari and surrounding routes exposes travellers to banditry and kidnapping. Nigerian Eye specifically attributes the tip to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Birnin Gwari branch, while other reports focus more generally on police receiving information and conducting a rescue operation. All sources agree on the number rescued and that the victims are found unharmed.
