BBC and BritBox unveil a first look at Edward Bluemel as Hercule Poirot in “Hercule,” an upcoming six-part series built around the detective’s early years. The production is being made for both outlets and is produced by ITV Studios’ Mammoth Screen.

The series is presented as an origin story, focusing on Poirot before his best-known cases and portraying him as both a person and a detective. Variety and Deadline describe it as an intimate character study of Poirot, alongside a broader look at Britain during the interwar period. The outlets also report that filming is under way in Liverpool. Hollywood Reporter adds that the show is scheduled to debut in 2027.

While all sources align on casting and format, their emphasis differs: some foreground the first-look images and Bluemel’s role, while others stress the thematic approach—Poirot’s development and the historical setting between the wars.
