A company owned by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), agrees to pay the United States $275 million to settle a US investigation into alleged breaches of Iran sanctions, according to the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). OFAC says AEL agreed to resolve its potential civil liability for 32 apparent violations of the Iran sanctions. The allegations focus on AEL’s purchases of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shipments made between November 2023 and June 2025.
Sources report that AEL bought LPG through a Dubai-based trader that represented shipments as coming from Oman and Iraq, while the underlying origin was alleged to be Iran. The settlement resolves related liabilities without constituting a finding of guilt or wrongdoing. Several outlets also note that the agreement follows shortly after another Adani-linked company reached a separate US civil settlement in a different matter involving corruption, with that earlier case also resolved without an admission of guilt.
The settlement is presented as a civil resolution of potential sanctions exposure rather than a criminal finding.
