Eight more countries—Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt—condemn Israel’s E1 settlement expansion plan and related activities east of occupied East Jerusalem. The statements come after a day in which European nations issue a similar joint condemnation.

According to the reports, the foreign ministers involved reject the E1 project and wider settlement policies in the occupied Palestinian territory. Several outlets also note that the joint statements renew criticism of settler violence, linking their condemnation of settlement expansion to concerns over security and lawfulness in the occupied areas.

While the outlets focus on the same core message—international opposition to the E1 plan—the framing differs slightly. Some emphasize the number of states involved and the timing relative to European actions, while others broaden the context by explicitly referencing renewed condemnation of settler violence and the broader “illegal settlement policies” language used in the joint statement. Across coverage, the countries’ position is consistent: they call the E1 expansion unacceptable and reject the activities associated with it.
