Worms are found in meals served to students in Bihar’s Arwal district, prompting complaints and students throwing away food at government schools on Tuesday. Reports say the issue occurs across 75 schools, where children notice worms in their lunch and refuse to eat.
Video footage described by outlets shows students discarding plates after spotting worms, with some children lining up to throw the meal into bins. The food items mentioned include vegetables in the mid-day meal, such as soybean and potato curry, and claims also extend to rice. Outlets also report that the meal supply for the district is managed by Royal Manav Mitra Seva Samiti.
Following the incident, Bihar’s education department responds by ordering an immediate investigation. The district education officer states strict action will be taken against the supplying agency if the probe finds negligence or other faults, emphasizing that the health of children will not be compromised.
