Veteran actress Poonam Dhillon is hospitalised at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after being diagnosed with dengue, according to multiple reports. She is recovering and is expected to be discharged soon, with an update described by a journalist as indicating she is improving.

Her health situation comes days after a public dispute within the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA). Eight elected members of CINTAA’s Executive Committee resigned and called for fresh elections, alleging loss of confidence in the association’s current functioning. The resignations cite claims of increasing control over key decisions and point to leadership figures including Dhillon.

Across outlets, other CINTAA-related statements add context but differ in emphasis. One report says CINTAA general secretary Upasana Singh alleges show-cause notices were issued in a way that pushed resigning members to seek transparency. Dhillon, meanwhile, is reported to have rejected the allegations and said she and senior vice president Padmini Kolhapure used their own resources and contacts to support the association.
