Nigeria’s vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, says the 2027 general election will be a struggle between “Nigerians” and “oppressors.” In the remarks, he urges citizens to unite beyond party lines to “rescue the country,” framing the contest as a decisive choice for Nigeria’s future rather than a routine partisan competition.
According to outlets, Kwankwaso speaks during a meeting in Abuja with a South-East delegation linked to the Kwankwaso National Network (KNN), led by Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai. The delegation discusses mobilisation efforts, including a target of securing up to five million votes for an “Obi–Kwankwaso” ticket in the South-East. Kwankwaso also calls for voters to resist electoral fraud and vote selling, citing the Osun governorship election as an example of how votes can count.
While all sources report the same core message—unity and the “Nigerians versus oppressors” framing—some emphasise the vote-mobilisation plan and targets in the South-East, while others focus more broadly on the political message to the electorate.
