A doctor is allegedly assaulted inside a private hospital in Kalyan, Maharashtra, late Saturday night, triggering panic among other patients and renewed concern among medical staff about workplace safety. Reports say the incident takes place in the doctor’s cabin at Bhanu Jyot Hospital, where an orthopaedist is examining a patient with a rib fracture.

According to the complaints cited by outlets, the patient’s son or relative argues with the doctor after repeatedly asking questions and addressing him in an informal, disrespectful manner. The relative is then reported to step out, return, and assault the doctor, with the episode captured on CCTV footage. Police initially register a non-cognisable complaint and later upgrade it to an FIR in connection with the case. Investigations are under way, and no arrest is reported.

The incident comes shortly after a separate episode in the Kalyan-Dombivli area involving alleged assault on medical staff, including an earlier attack in Dombivli that also drew video evidence and public scrutiny. Across the reports, doctors demand strict action and stronger security measures at hospitals to prevent further violence.
